Six Board Teredo Fir Superset
Stunning set of six old-growth fir planks, locally sourced, milled and kiln dried, showing off the incredible life-long hidden pathways of teredo navalis, otherwise known as the naval shipworm (don't be fooled: they're clams). Once submerged in local saltwaters & used in northwest timber transport of days gone by, these logs have been milled in such a way as to produce a delicate symmetry from the seemingly random channels of the mollusks who called them home. If you've been looking for the perfect pacific architectural accent, you've found it, my friend. Please note, wood that was previously submerged in salt water is extra sensitive to humidity in the environment, making acclimation an important step. Bring the boards into the room where they will be installed, spread them out and let them sit for a week or two before starting your project.
