A member of the rosewood family from central america, Cocobolo is denser and a bit more oily than most rosewoods. This wood can be polished to a glossy sheen, and has a nice tone. Prized for its rarity, color and properties, Cocobolo is used to craft guitars, flutes, clarinets, and bagpipes as well as chess pieces, hand gun and knife handles. Normally retails for $50-$65 per board foot. This piece is a great size for knife scales!
