Red and Gold Plaster Light

$ 2250.00

We recently received these splendid red and gold lights. Each antique light is made of solid, carved and painted plaster, in rich tones reminiscent of Seattle's international district dragons. They were being stored in the bottom of an old brick building in Belltown, and on the sides of the building, in faintest ghostly letters, read the words "Dance Hall." In fact, when you look at these lights, you can almost hear the pale strains of music, ready to whirl you away in a dancing dream to a forgotten time.

We had the absolute pleasure of restoring these in our in-house lighting workshop, and they are some of my favorite lights I have ever restored. The rewiring includes new canopies, shade holders, sockets and wiring. (Please note: globes are not original to the light, and in their long life the plaster has been broken and repaired in a few places. Please see photos.)

This unusual light would be perfect in your ballroom, tea house, bar, or speakeasy. Bring home a rare and special piece of Seattle's vanishing history, and cast a lovely ambiance into your space.
