The days of making a full circle after the 1st Avenue bridge until you’re going back underneath it are soon to be behind us, as Second Use is moving to a new location in SoDo later this year! We’ll be taking over the Alaskan Copper building at 3223 6th Ave. S., off the corner of 6th and Horton.
Why the move? It really comes down to space and accessibility. Second Use has been in its South Park location for the past 15 years and has greatly enjoyed our community. However, over the last three years, we’ve been struggling to grow the business with limited space, strung between multiple facilities. In the new SoDo location, we’ll be under one roof, with more room for materials and room to grow. Plus, it will surprise no one that an easier-to-find location will be a very good thing for us and our customers. The move will allow us to serve our customers better, create more jobs, and of course divert more reusable materials from the landfill. While we’ll miss our neighbors in South Park and White Center, we are committed to continuing the relationships we’ve made and hope to see everyone just up the street.
As relocating a business has many moving targets, we do not have an exact opening date pinned down yet, but it will be sometime in the late summer or early fall. The best way to get information as it happens is by visiting our new store blog or signing up for our monthly e-newsletter. We’ll post pictures, new developments and the grand opening date as soon as we get it.
We’d love to hear your feedback, whether it’s excitement or concern. Please don’t hesitate to e-mail us at [email protected] or ask to speak with our outreach coordinator, an owner, or a manager when you visit the store. Hope to see you in SoDo in a few months, and don’t forget to tell your friends!
