This vintage bulletin board used to be connected to counterweights that enabled educators and students to slide the board up and out of the way when not in use. This sort of rigging was common in universities for a period and is still in some today. The front face has been painted white, but the backside reveals its vertical grain fir construction. Significant wear from its previous life, but you could still lean-to in a kitchen or office for a grand bulletin board with some history.
