This beam was glued up using perpendicular lengths of wood, which are called cross laminated timbers. Not sure what it would be rated for structurally, but it sure looks like it would make a heck of a good counter or bar top. Scales out to 174 board feet. Has some checking, and the edge(s) may not be perfectly square or straight.
