A vintage piece of history, this is a carbide lamp that coal miners (and presumably other miners) would hook onto their helmets for lighting in the mineshafts. This one's in pretty decent shape, the brass has some weathering and patina to it, though it looks to have taken a couple of tumbles over the years. This one has a rubber handle around the bottom- an Air-Cooled Grip by Justrite, so miners didn't burn themselves while hooking it up. A great addition to any mining enthusiast or historian's collection.
