Ivory Pyralin was an early plastic similar to celluloid that was made popular when manufacturers sought commercial applications for their useful formulas post-WWI. As the name suggests, Du Barry and other producers offered the material as an affordable alternative to ivory - thus it can be found in many objects typically carved from or decorated with ivory, such as dominoes and mahjong tiles, pens, jewelry, and vanity sets such as this one! Our set includes a 4x6in frame, brush, comb, tray, powder box, hair receiver, jewelry box, and assorted manicure tools with storage box. Celluloid plastics are delicate and some of the pieces are showing their age. Many of these pieces are still suitable for use if treated well!
