Black Pepper ?Granite? Island Countertop

Nearly black piece of stone with some lighter flecks here and there (sort of the look of black pepper). I believe it's granite, but I'm not a stone expert. All sides are finished for use as an island top. Has a 13 1/4" x 9" cutout with finished edges for an undermount sink (see item #1332781). From top finished front edge in photo to single faucet hole is 18"; 21 1/2" to start of sink cut out.
